The following statements represent the District’s beliefs concerning education in order that it might serve as a guide in the formation of the District’s goals and objectives and, within the legal framework of the state, in the establishment of programs designed to attain those objectives.
- Public education shall prepare the individual student for increasing autonomy so that he may be self-directed, utilizing the full benefits of his learning and disciplining himself to work, study, and play constructively with satisfaction to himself and others.
- Public education within a democracy shall respond to the ideals and values of the society through the cooperative efforts of the students, the parents, the educators, and members of the community.
- Public education shall provide unique programs to meet the needs of students in developing intellectually, physically, socially, culturally, and morally.
- Public education shall acknowledge that the individual and specific needs of each child must be recognized and addressed.
- Public education shall recognize the need for the individual to function within a group setting, balancing his personal needs with those of the group.
