Educational Philosophy
The School Board of Salt Creek School District No. 48 recognizes the intrinsic worth of educating the nation’s youth. Further, the Board recognizes that the requirements of citizenship in a democratic country and the complexities of an ever-changing technological society make it increasingly important to maintain individualized and humanistic attitudes in the educational process. It is necessary for all who are associated with public education continually to identify and evaluate the responsibilities of education to the community, the state, the nation, and the world.
The following statements represent the District’s beliefs concerning education in order that it might serve as a guide in the formation of the District’s goals and objectives and, within the legal framework of the state, in the establishment of programs designed to attain those objectives.
  • Public education shall prepare the individual student for increasing autonomy so that he may be self-directed, utilizing the full benefits of his learning and disciplining himself to work, study, and play constructively with satisfaction to himself and others.
  • Public education within a democracy shall respond to the ideals and values of the society through the cooperative efforts of the students, the parents, the educators, and members of the community.
  • Public education shall provide unique programs to meet the needs of students in developing intellectually, physically, socially, culturally, and morally.
  • Public education shall acknowledge that the individual and specific needs of each child must be recognized and addressed.
  • Public education shall recognize the need for the individual to function within a group setting, balancing his personal needs with those of the group.
